Dawkins quote
This is interesting:
Presumably there is indeed no purpose in the ultimate fate of the cosmos, but do any of us really tie our life’s hopes to the ultimate fate of the cosmos anyway? Of course we don’t; not if we are sane. Our lives are ruled by all sorts of closer, warmer, human ambitions and perceptions.
- Richard Dawkins (source)
I like this. I’ve never been able to relate to folks who get depressed by the idea of no-fate. I think it’s wonderfully liberating. Just-is-ness as the only ultimate purpose there is… divine.

Emily,
I’m glad to see you’re writing on the weblog again.
I love this quote. I’ve always felt that these sorts of arguments from “Godly folk” were kind of disingenuous. I mean, do people who believe in God really mean it when they say that if they thought this was all there was, they’d lose all hope?
I highly doubt it, for the same reason that Dawkins brings up.
This is a good quote. I like it.
