Boy Scouts - future troops of America

If I have a son someday, remind me to tell him how much he does not want to join Boy Scouts. From Harper’s weekly review:

The Boy Scout National Jamboree was held at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. The Senate passed the Support Our Scouts Act of 2005, guaranteeing the Boy Scouts the right to use federal land whether the organization discriminates against atheists and gays or not. The Senate also noted that holding the Jamboree on a military base gave U.S. soldiers the opportunity to practice the “preparation, logistics, and leadership” needed in combat.

Check out this creepy photo of Bush speaking at the Jamboree with a giant ARMY balloon in the background. Pretty blatant. And just how offensive is that balloon with the head of a Native American chief? Ugh.

Maybe you should learn more about the Order of the Arrow before you criticize it?

I take it you only know about scouting from your “holier than thou” biased sources.

    How awesome!

And if you don’t know what the Order of the Arrow is, then, I think that goes to show that you don’t know what you are talking about.

It is a FACT that Boy Scouts of America has actively discriminated against gays for years and it is a FACT that this year’s Jamboree was held at a military base, presumably with the target of recruiting future enlistees. This is enough for me to know I don’t support Boy Scouts of America.

Well, I think you are off in some weird polarized world of scapegoating a gigantic group of people because you have some political bias towards a smaller group within the larger group. You are aware that there are Boy Scouts of all walks of life in many countries and it’s not just a US thing, right?

Wait, no, it’s not my job to inform you.

“…this year’s Jamboree was held at a militay base….” Just for your info, it has been held at the same base for 25 years, so I guess Clinton was also trying to recruit them, back before 9/11? those devious dogs….!

I agree with you - “those devious dogs”. What makes you assume I’m a Clinton fan? Why is it that frequently when I criticize the Bush administration, people jump in to say, “well, Clinton too!!” as if I’m some sort of staunch Democrat Clinton-lover? Assumptions…assumptions. For the record, I think the U.S. government is corrupt through and that changes very little from president to president. This current administration just happens to be the lowest of the low.
