cleansing and cycling

I’m winding down day seven of a ten-day fruit and vegetable cleanse. This is my third time in ten years doing the cleanse and I usually notice a major metabolism boost, renewed energy and lightness after its duration. If anyone’s interested, I can e-mail you the details. It’s basically an almost all raw fruit and veggies plan with no salt, sugar, processed foods, stimulants, alcohol, and the only fats are from avocado. I timed this one so that the day after it’s over is my birthday - yay! I’ll feel I can splurge somewhat on my birthday. (I’ll be 29 on 7/7.)

So far, I’ve lost 5 lbs. in a week. I feel lighter and more comfortable in my skin, and although I have food cravings, I’m never actually hungry (an important distinction for me). I’m using this cleanse as a kick-off to losing some weight and getting fitter. College meant a lot of sitting on my butt reading and writing and being in classes, and this summer I’m excited to be active.

My co-workers and family chipped in for a new Trek for me as a graduation present. I had a Trek when I was a teenager and loved it and I love this new one. Here’s a picture with the specs. It’s a hybrid, meaning the tires are mid-width - in between street bike and mountain bike. It’s so lightweight, has tons of gears and is silver with black streaks and black spokes. Very “industrial” looking.
