schooling along

I suppose I should blog…lol.

I’m coming up on finals and that’s kept me really busy. I’ve been taking a Sociological Research project class where my group has created a survey study and are seeing it through to completion. We surveyed Portland tenure-track professors at six different schools to determine their attitudes towards and participation in protest. It was an online survey and our response rate was 30% (173). We are now at the analysis writeup stage, after spending hours and hours running crosstabs and other statistical reports in a program called SPSS. In a little more than week, we present our findings and charts to the class and our ~50-page final draft report is due in three weeks. If anyone’s interested in our findings, I’d be happy to e-mail you a copy of the report later.

I’m so ready for next term. I’m really excited about my independent study class on social movements for education and I’ll be taking a six credit capstone class where we students will work with City Repair, a local nonprofit “helping people reclaim their urban spaces to create community-oriented places.” And I can’t wait for Spring Break, when I’ll have eight free days all to myself to read what I want, write what I want, and hang out with all of my awesome friends.
