first week of summer

Damn, I’m busy!

  • Summer term started Monday. I’m taking a Monday night bell hooks class that I just LOVE so far. Also, M-Th for four weeks, I’m taking a condensed Sociological Inquiry, a requirement for my major. I started my capstone, Politics, the Silver Screen & You, last night and it didn’t light me up. I’m going to drop it, just take my capstone in the winter or spring, and have a more lax summer than expected. Yay!
  • Configuring my credits and schedule for this next school year, I was surprised to find that I’m “accidentally” only two classes shy of a Women’s Studies minor. I hadn’t realized consciously that I’ve been taking a Women’s Studies dept. class each term. Might as well go for the minor. Sweet.
  • The Cure is playing the Gorge (Southern Washington) on August 21st! The band is playing with Mogwai, Interpol, and Rapure; tickets go on sale Saturday. I’m so excited and am more than willing to pay the $50 or so per ticket for me and Jeremy to go. It’ll be my first time seeing them live - can you believe it? The Cure and Siouxsie in one summer!
  • My mom in Fairfield had hip replacement surgery yesterday. The procedure went well and this morning she’s already sitting up in a chair. She’ll be in the hospital for about a week or so and is using the opportunity to quit smoking (she’s been smoking for 40 years). Please send her healing vibes.

That’s about it for now.
