woman mandala

I drew a mandala the other night, the night of the full moon. I drew the mandala because I am giving a 20 minute presentation in Women’s Spirituality class tomorrow afternoon about the accessing the unconscious through making mandalas, and I figured I’d be a big fraud if I hadn’t created one myself already. I’ve been coloring them for years, but this was the first I’ve ever drawn:

I wasn’t intending any particular symbolism or subject when I drew it, but after I finished, it immediately struck me as a figure of a woman. The colors, yellow and grey, are joy and grief and the orange is a healing. This International Women’s Day I honor womanliness as I experience it in myself and others - strength, complexity, lovingness, and empathy.
