Air America launches

Air America, the new liberal talk radio station, launched today. You can listen to it via a Real Audio link off of this page. Granted, I’ve only been listening to the current show playing on the station for about ten minutes, But my first impression is that it’s so evident America is not a two-party nation.

The host on right now, Randi Rhodes, is really grating. She’s a preach-to-the-choir ranter, rather than an informative transformer, which is what I’m a stand for. Also, while callers are expressing their gratitude that there is finally a liberal station to counter the Hannitys and Limbaughs, quite a few of them are frustrated that the climate of the show is so Democrat. So Ms. Rhodes is screaming against Nader supporters; I hear these two different degrees of leftiness battling each other rather than uniting against the current administration. Guh.

However, I will continue to listen when I can, though, and see how the station goes. It’s on 620 AM here in Portland. I particularly want to hear Janeane Garofalo - she hosts from 5-8 PM PST.

RR was really really grating. She just kept talking over people.

She got better as the show went on, but yes was pretty grating for a while.
