day after another day

I’m having a quiet, leisurely day today at home after all the whooshing around of the past few days. Christmas doesn’t really mean a whole lot to me in its pervasive religious/consumerist wrappings. As far as the spirit of togetherness and gratitude, well, that’s something I try to focus on all year round.

So, yesterday was really just another day for me, although Jeremy and I did join his family at 4 PM yesterday for good grub and gift exchanges. We only bought presents for Jeremy’s nephew (a basketball…I’d have nothing to do with that Playstation crap!) and niece (a fun book about loving who are and how you look, perfect for a twelve year old girl). Jeremy and I don’t really exchange gifts ourselves for Christmas or birthdays - it seems kind of pointless when we each buy what we need/really want throughout the year for ourselves. Most of the time, there’s not a whole lot I want materially anyway.

Today, I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the day responding to e-mails, going through some bookmarks, reading, picking up around the house, and curling up tonight with a DVD. Don’t forget - our UK photos are up, so take a look! This weekend, we’re going away to the coast, so I probably won’t post again until Monday.
