at the Oregon State Fair

The B-52's in Salem!

I’m just getting around to posting about this because I just finished filtering through the photos from that night: I had an absolute blast last Monday night going to The B-52’s show at the Oregon State Fair in Salem! It was seriously one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I’ve always had this special little affinity for the band; I think the female singers’ harmonizing is some of the best and most of their songs are unpredictable and creative.

They played in a giant outdoor ampdown in Salem at sunset. There was a substantial audience and most people were really into it; I know I was on my feet for all but a song or two. The B-52’s energy was fantastic - lots of zaniness and high jinks and raucous fun! Both Kate and Cindy sounded incredible and Fred too of course and they danced and boogied all over the stage (see photos). They were just as weird as any fan would want them to be! If the group is coming to your area, definitely go…even if you are barely a fan, the scene is so much fun.

All songs were played loud and hard for maximum dance-ability, a few moments dissolving into complete trippiness what with the dusk light and stage lights, the kinetic crowd, the frenzied guitar riffs, and insane band members.
