favorite e-mail lists/newsletters
I wrote up a list over a month ago of my favorite software/web utilities. The following are my favorite e-mail lists/newsletters - the ones I purposely signed up for and read with relish:
- Utne Buzz: News and tidbits from Utne Magazine - or read online. (1x per week)
- Projekt eList: The latest news and deals from the premier ethereal, gothic and dark ambient music label. (1x per week)
- Popbitch: Gloriously snarky celebrity gossip and twaddle. (1x per week)
- SF Gate Morning Fix: Colmnist Mark Morford’s irreverent and highly satiric take on world news and events - hilarious! (3x per week)
- PR Watch’s The Weekly Spin: A free compendium of current news tips about public relations, propaganda and media spin. (1x per week)
- A.Word.A.Day: From Wordsmith; more than 550,000 subscribers. (daily)
- Edge: Promotes inquiry into and discussion of intellectual, philosophical, artistic, and literary issues. (3x per month)
- Various terrific Yahoo! Groups such as Portland Bloggers, Sylvia Plath (which I started), Yahoo! Picks, Celebrating Feminist Women
- Books, Movies, and Circuits newsletters from the NY Times online: You must be a member, but it’s free. (1x per week each)
- Powell’s Books Newsletters: They’re all good - Review-A-Day, Bibliolatry, Just Deals, etc. (frequencies vary depending on list)
- Idea A Day: An original idea every day and you can submit your own. (daily)
- Quotes of the Day: A theme and four or five quotes to match. (daily)
- MoveOn.org’s Keep Me Posted and Bulletin: Updates and alerts from the best political grassroots source. (varied)
Whew! As you can probably guess, I am never up-to-date on reading my e-mail.
