We don’t want your oily war

I’m getting excited about tomorrow’s peace rally in downtown Portland. It will echo the marches in Washington D.C. and San Francisco among other cities. This promises to be the biggest one yet in Portland and is sponsored by more than 125 Portland churches, religious organizations, labor groups, and peace groups! Even though war looks inevitable at this point, I feel protests do make a difference because they cause the public to be aware that not everyone sides with our government’s actions. When Bush says we speak with one voice, everyone will know he’s full of shit.

Here’s a front page Portland Tribune article covering the rally preparation. In case you live near Portland, the details are:

Peace and Justice Walk
When: 12:30 p.m. Saturday
Where: Begins at South Park Blocks, Southwest Salmon Street between Southwest Park Avenue and Ninth Avenue, traveling through downtown to Green Wyatt Federal Building, then back to park blocks
Sponsor: 125 religious, peace and social groups
