we have no real voice
There was a fantastic discussion at MetaFilter yesterday over potential U.S. war with Iraq. I particularly like this excerpt from one member:
Bush could receive 10,000 phone calls against to 1000 calls for and I doubt it would make the President bat an eye. This administration has done everything it can to make me feel that unless I’m part of the 10 percent of the wealthiest citizens or the CEO of a major corporation, I am insignificant.

Bush is an idiot and an asshole, but I am damn glad HE was in office when those planes hit the World Trade Center. Imagine what Gore would have done about it. I want asses on a platter, and who better to do it than a rich hick republican.

Actually having Gore as Prez might have averted the problem. Given Dubya is the son of the Prez who lead the gulf war very well might have been a reason for the terrorists to attack.
Keep in mind that bin Laden first started his personal war against the USA after having USA troops stationed on holy land during the Gulf War.
