tidbits
The new Strangechord setlist of mp3s is up. The theme? Singers Sounding Insane! I also uploaded a bunch of my academic papers, including one on Philip Glass and one on the futility of the foster care system in the U.S. Lastly, check out my newly posted photo series: ~90% of the places I’ve lived in Fairfield, Iowa. I have spent the bulk of my years in Fairfield and when I visited my mom there in June, we drove around snapping these shots of my old abodes.
I’m plowing through busywork this weekend. Did some research for my Biology 103 projects on the red kangaroo and whiplash (separate projects, of course). I received two incredible books on mat-based Pilates the other day and am in the process of designing a quick and simple home routine for myself. Pilates makes a huge difference for me; after recently completing an 8 week morning class I notice a definite transformation in my muscle tone and carriage. I highly recommend it to any of you who have considered giving Pilates a whirl.
About a month ago I started Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and put it down about 1/4 of the way into it. I found the book a bit tedious and just not worth my reading time, what with so many other books on my agenda. Last night, Jeremy and I attempted to watch the film and couldn’t make it even halfway through. What is it about this Harry Potter phenomenon? I don’t get it. Is there some “magic” I’m missing?
I finally figured out how to hook up my portable tape deck stereo to the line-in on my computer such that I can rip my audio tapes to mp3 format. I purchased the full version of MusicMatch jukebox software and the program enables ripping from outside sources such as tapes and record albums. All you need is a cable that looks like a headphone jacks at either end - one end goes into the headphone jack of your stereo, the other end into the line in jack on the back of the computer. Very, very handy for all of the childhood cassettes I have of my friends and I babbling and performing audio skits. Those tapes are going to die someday, but damn it, I will have those ridiculous moments digitized! Perhaps soon I will post a few, most notably of my spazzing out at six years old. Stay tuned.
