Strangechord

I find it rather funny that after all the noise that was generated over the now widely known court case, this pledge was written by a capitalist-hating socialist. Furthermore, the god-less version of the pledge was good enough for the WWII generation and the god reference was added at the height of McCarthyism. In this context it is fairly creepy that the purpose of the pledge has completely changed in 110 years and that the original context of the pledge has largely been forgotten by most of the population. To be honest I didn’t even know the origin of the pledge and I consider myself fairly well read.
