Weekend update

Had a really accomplished, relaxed, and balanced weekend. Jeremy was in D.C. for a SAGE (geek guild) weekend of meetings. I slept until noon both days (shame, shame!), but made up for it by being extra-industrious when I was awake. Wrote long-overdue correspondence e-mails, washed dishes, made the bed, and did laundry on Sunday! Finally watched DVD from NetFlix of “Couch in New York” (1996) with Juliette Binoche and William Hurt. Binoche is easy on the eyes, but Hurt is a hideous and boring man, and the movie itself was full of logic holes, bad acting, and pap. A disappointment - I had looked forward to it since it was directed by Chantale Akerman who made “Night and Day” (1991), one of my favorite melancholy little French films. She sold out to make the “big American movie”, I reckon.

I have a huge mp3 collection (all of my CDs are ripped and I download a lot = ~4800 songs) and I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon sifting through and organizing them. On one hand, I feel as though I’m wasting time when I do that, but on the other hand, it brings me joy to sort and listen to seconds here, a whole tune there as I go. Vive l’eclectisme de musique.

Julie Butterfly Hill is the first hero(ine) to be posted at Strangechord! (see left sidebar) I just started reading about her and am stunned at the degree to which she is in integrity to her commitment. Two years in a tree! At the same time that I’m jealous of the fierce beauty of heart and courage it took to accomplish that, I also can see that I recognize that in her because I have it in me - I’m just not taking action yet. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve, though….(more tomorrow).
